A New Begining

July 4, Independence Day, although it has happened through circumstance, I cannot think of a more fitting date to start the blog “The American Backyard”.
So to begin I would like to remember and give thanks to God for the courage, wisdom and vision demonstrated by our for-fathers. The signers of the Declaration of Independence and patriots who fought in the American Revolution risked everything for the ideals that remain the foundation of this country today.

As far back as I can remember I have had a passion for the outdoors. I am most content when communing with nature and have dedicated my life to designing gardens which attempt to mimic Mother Nature. This lifetime pursuit has put me in contact with some of the most assume people. I feel privileged and honored that they have entrusted me to create gardens that define how they relate to the outdoors and if done write have a significant impact on quality of their life.

Over the years I have learned what works and what to avoid. Clients, friends and family are always picking my brain to get advice on what to do with all kinds of landscape related issues. One friend said, “with all your knowledge and experience, you should start a blog.”

This blog will post weekly on seasonally relevant topics to inform and provide actionable tips on how to enjoy, maintain and get the most from your outdoor living space. The following are some of the topics you will find in this blog.
·        Feature Gardens
·        New and Underutilized Plants
·        How to Building Projects
·        Outdoor Product Reviews
·        Seasonal Menus and Recipes for Grilling.
·        Tips to reduce maintenance and protect your investment
·        Insect and Pest Management Reports

To make this work I need your input. If you have any landscape related issues or topics that you would like covered please feel free to contact me. Also, if you have any special area of expertise that you feel our readers would benefit from and you would like to contribute to the blog I look forward to hearing from you, credit will always be given to the author.

God Bless America
